Core Health Indicators in the WHO European Region 2012

Overview

Health information is an essential input for monitoring the health situation in populations and for supporting policy-making. This document presents a set of internationally comparable core health indicators that are commonly used to monitor and assess health in a country. These data are also helpful to identify health needs and priorities, and set up policies and programmes to improve health. This publication was tabled as a background document for the discussions during the Technical briefing on Targets, indicators and monitoring of Health 2020 during the Sixty-second session of the Regional Committee for Europe, Malta, 10–13 September 2012.
